With their intricate weaves, stunning designs, and unique character—no two pieces are ever the same—Persian carpets are a world-renowned art form from Iran, often taking years of meticulous labor to complete.
In this program, we are proud to showcase a collection of innovative pictorial carpets by a rising female artist from Tabriz, alongside timeless masterpieces from the legendary Haghighi Workshop, which boasts over a century of history.
LAYA SAGHAEY
A rising young female artist from Tabriz, Iran. While her work is deeply rooted in the traditional patterns and palettes of Persian carpets, she has garnered significant attention for her unique style that weaves in a contemporary sensibility. Having grown up surrounded by carpets in her family’s workshop, she naturally developed a refined sense of color and composition—skills she now expands into diverse media, including painting and textile installations.
HAGHIGHI Artisan Works
The Haghighi Workshop in Isfahan creates exquisite Persian carpets inspired by the intricate beauty of Persian miniatures and Islamic architecture. By skillfully blending color and weaving techniques, they delicately reconstruct geometric patterns, arabesques, and mihrab compositions reminiscent of mosque tiles. Through the use of natural dyes and high-density hand-knotting, they produce one-of-a-kind art pieces that feel as if grand architecture has been woven into fabric.

Lion Rugs is a premier Persian carpet specialist, led by a fourth-generation merchant from a lineage spanning 138 years in Iran. Leveraging a robust network of trusted family members across the country, the shop sources the latest collections and commissions original designs. Their expertise also extends to acquiring "masterpiece-tier" treasures—the very same caliber of rugs once favored by the world's elite.
