Nature and artificiality, light and shadow, inside and outside.
Between these two opposing elements lies a sense of "space" or "interval" where they blend and harmonize."Awai" is a gentle and profound ancient Japanese word that refers to the boundary between things, time and time, and people, and its origin is "au" (to meet).
This time, the works are a blend of memories and reality, depicting landscapes I saw, touched, and felt during my travels. I hope you will be able to experience a sense of nostalgia that is often overlooked in everyday life.

Mami Nishizaka

Former firefighter.
I grew up in an environment where I could be close to nature from a young age.

However, as I got older, I realized that the places I had come into contact with were both natural objects and nature created by human hands. I remember feeling a strange sense of wonder at the landscapes where the boundaries were so blurred, even as a child.

By depicting the "in-between" space between these two opposing forces, I hope that people will be able to see the landscapes they see every day in a slightly different way.
