Material is not a fixed property inherent in an object, but rather a state that emerges through our relationship with it. This project explores the transformation of perception that occurs as people connect the object before them with their daily lives, bodies, and imagination, and the process by which the object itself evolves into something new through the act of creation, thereby generating unexpected value and new relationships.

Material Forest (Xylin) is a space for collecting, researching and developing materials available in satoyama areas of Japan. Inspired by various materials collected in a mountainous village, localy-based and invited designer/artists conduct research and creates artworks with experimental methods.

Osaka Takashimaya Department Store

A long-established department store serving as a landmark in the Osaka Minami district. The store is directly connected to Namba Stations on the Nankai Electric Railway and the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line, offering a wide variety of ladies’ fashion, cosmetics, and sundries.
