This work emerges from the discrepancy between the time that flows within the individual and the speed demanded by society. Sea glass, symbolizing thought, is placed in the space as an entity that continues to be worn down while remaining still. Traces of friction spread quietly as sand, suggesting a state of time in which the individual and the environment influence one another and continue to transform.

MITSUHOSHI

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I encountered sea glass while staying at home and began creating sculptural works and installations. I explore how broken, man-made glass is shaped by the sea into natural-like forms, revealing traces of time and human activity. Recently, I have also used sand and discarded metal, focusing on giving lasting form to shapes discovered through the process.
