Stories of the struggle of ‘useless things’
Zoe started doodling in 2020, and someone who saw his work said to him, “Starting tomorrow, become an artist,” and even gave him his current artist name. The appeal of Zoe’s work lies in his bold use of color and his worldview filled with free imagination. His unique characters also give his work distinctive identity. Zoe talks about his unique worldview: “Useless things are always looked down upon by useful things. Useless things have been pushed into a corner and hidden, like putting a lid on dirty things. This situation will continue to be repeated in the future. However, these useless things do not always remain silent. The characters I depict in my work are deemed useless because of their pop and revolutionary nature, but I love them even though they may be labeled as failures and useless. My work is also a story of the struggle against useful things.”
